VFX Cinemagraph - Water Experiment

After being given our task allowing us to do what we want and to create shots and tests with VFX, me and a couple of my friends brought out a camera to start learning and creating cinemagraphs, which are GIF's where one part of the picture moves and another part is still.

We do this by using After Effects to pen out, mask, freeze frame and create loops within the video. Through our experiments we have been improving whilst doing the same and similar shots twice for good practice. The first attempt we had was with the use of water and including that movement with the stillness of myself.

First.

Second.

We noticed problems with this as the camera wasn't exactly still, due to a lack of a tripod because we went out on an impulse to try this out. After recreating the shot just with a tripod, it made everything so much easier to work with, especially when creating the loop!
